A little bit about me..
I am a Forest School Practitioner for both Beechdale Nursery School and Consett Infant School. I am responsible for leading, planning and evaluating the Forest School programme across both schools. Outdoor learning is a real passion of mine and its a joy to see how the children benefit from being in the outdoors. I have also been responsible in the past for setting up the allotment and our (once) hen area. This is always been an ambition of mine to help children understand where fruit, veg and eggs actually come from before they hit the supermarket shelves. The children will be sampling the ‘good life’ by planting, harvesting and then tasting. I was also the Environmental Individual Award Finalist 2010. Because I love the outdoors I also see the value of a good breakfast in the morning to keep you going throughout the day, I therefore support breakfast club for 3 mornings a week.
My Favourite Children’s book is
Percy the Park Keeper
My Favourite thing to play in nursery is
I love to get the children involved in baking and messy play. If anyone is like me you’ll know messy play tends to stay in the garden or at nursery so to do lots of messy things inside is a privilege. As for baking I like to take the children out for the ingredients. They all have a shopping list, purchase the items, cook the product then taste the finished result.
